Tech Soft 3D Acquires Redway3D

Tech Soft 3D, a provider of engineering software development toolkits that supports markets including additive manufacturing, AR/VR, and metrology has acquired Redway3D, creator of the REDsdk, a software component providing advanced photorealistic and real-time rendering capabilities. According to Tech Soft 3D, Redway3D’s REDsdk complements Tech Soft 3D’s HOOPS Visualize with its strong focus on raytracing-based photorealistic rendering and its game-engine approach to advanced real-time visualization.

HOOPS Visualize is an engineering-focused graphics library and software development kit for rendering 3D CAD models on desktop, mobile, and AR/VR devices. It is used by companies including Hexagon, Trimble, Ansys, SOLIDWORKS, and Autodesk, according to Tech Soft 3D.

“Adding the REDsdk technology to our portfolio addresses a need many of our partners have for advanced, photorealistic visualization and rendering, which is an area in which we will continue investing,” said Ron Fritz, CEO of Tech Soft 3D.

Tech Soft 3D intends to continue to maintain and support Redway3D’s existing partners that are using its REDsdk offering for high-quality photorealistic and real-time rendering. Details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

machine vision
Machine vision, also known as computer vision or computer sight, refers to the technology that enables machines, typically computers, to interpret and understand visual information from the world, much like the human visual system. It involves the development and application of algorithms and systems that allow machines to acquire, process, analyze, and make decisions based on visual data. Key aspects of machine vision include: Image acquisition: Machine vision systems use various...
additive manufacturing
Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D printing, is a manufacturing process that involves creating three-dimensional objects by adding material layer by layer. This is in contrast to traditional manufacturing methods, which often involve subtracting or forming materials to achieve the desired shape. In additive manufacturing, a digital model of the object is created using computer-aided design (CAD) software, and this digital model is then sliced into thin cross-sectional layers. The...
