Every two years, the global machine vision industry converges in the capital of southwest Germany’s Baden-Württemberg state, internationally known as the home of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. It has long been one of Europe’s largest manufacturing hubs.

And this year, excitement abounds for this biennial event, which is set to attract 450 exhibitors from around the world.

One unique aspect of VISION is its focus on highlighting the work of young and emerging companies; there is both the VISION Start-Up World and the Young Innovators stand, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action, offering companies the chance to present their latest developments and ideas to potential customers and business partners on the international stage.

Consider PxE Holographic Imaging from Israel, which, after years of development, is now ready to bring its holographic imaging to market. The technology “makes it possible to acquire natively fused high-resolution color images, infrared images, and pixel-level depth maps, all at once using a single, standard 2D camera,” according to Noga Barpal, vice president of business development. The development allows extended capabilities for the price of a standard 2D camera, Barpal said.

Another company participating in VISION’s startup activities is Mobile Vision Technology GmbH, from Brandenburg, Germany. Its software takes advantage of commercial hardware, such as mobile phones and computers, directly “on the edge,” leading to improvements in speed and a reduction in the complexity of the machine vision systems.

Startups like PxE Holographic Imaging and Mobile Vision Technology will compete in daily Pitch Sessions on the forum stage, with a Start-up of the Day named following each day of the trade fair. An overall VISION Startup 2024 title will be named by a jury on the last day of the event.

I’ll see you in Stuttgart!
