The Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) named Roy Goodacre this year’s Charles Mann Award winner for achievements in the field of applied Raman spectroscopy. The announcement was made at the SCIX 2021 conference in Providence, R.I., on Sept. 28. Goodacre, a professor of biological chemistry at the University of Liverpool, was recognized for his work in using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) to allow the detection of single molecules.
