Spectros Corp. announced it will sell an optical biotechnology-related patent to Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. The purchase price was not disclosed. The patent concerns multispectral pulse oximetry technology developed by Spectros. Pulse oximetry is a noninvasive method allowing the monitoring of the oxygenation of a patient's hemoglobin. Previously, Spectros, which markets advanced molecular sensing and imaging devices that shed light on ischemia and cancer, closed technology sale, license and access agreements with Li-Cor, Caliper Life Sciences, FirstScan, Merck Research, Rita Medical and Boston Scientific Corp.
