Space Imaging Forms Japanese Partnership

DENVER, Colo., April 5 -- Space Imaging announced today that it has signed an agreement with Japan's National Space Development Agency (NASDA) that allows NASDA to receive and process satellite imagery collected by the Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellites. The agreement gives NASDA exclusive rights to distribute the imagery it receives in Japan, and non-exclusive distribution rights for those countries inside its footprint -- parts of Russia, China, Mongolia, North and South Korea, Vietnam and the Philippines. Space Imaging retains exclusive distribution rights outside India, Japan, and NASDA's footprint.
The imagery is collected by both the IRS-1C and IRS-1D satellites. Each satellite is equipped with three sensors that collect five-meter resolution panchromatic (black-and-white), 20-meter resolution multispectral (color), and 180-meter resolution multispectral wide-area images. NASDA receives imagery from the five-meter and 20-meter resolution sensors.
