ALBUQUEQUE, N.M., Sept. 11, 2009 -- Schott Solar Inc. is streamlining its North American sales operations by closing its existing office in Roseville, Calif., and moving those operations to its new flagship manufacturing facility in Albuquerque.

The company also said Thursday that it will open regional sales offices in San Jose, Calif., and Elmsford, N.Y., to support its Albuquerque site, which is now the North American headquarters for Schott Solar. Moving from Roseville will be its sales administration, sales operations and customer service departments; Roseville will close at the end of the month, Schott said.

Schott Solar’s $100 million Albuquerque facility is the first in the US to produce receivers used in parabolic trough, utility-scale, concentrated solar power plants (CSP), and the first to produce receivers for both CSP and photovoltaic (PV) modules.

The new Elmsford sales office is located just outside New York City. Elmsford is also the location for Schott North America's labware, advanced materials, and glass tubing facilities. The new San Jose sales office is located next door to its sister company, Schott Moritex, in Silicon Valley, the company said.

“By repositioning our US sales operations we are creating a footprint that we believe will best meet the market, and our customer’s needs,” said Mark Finocchario, president and CEO of Schott Solar.

On July 31 Schott Solar closed its production site in Billerica, Mass., to streamline manufacturing. The facility employed 180 full-time and 45 temporary workers and made 300-W PV modules.
