NASHUA, N.H., Oct. 10 -- Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company, has received an eight-year, $225 million award from Lockheed Martin in support of the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the US Army's Theater High Altitude Air Defense (THAAD) system.Sanders' Microwave, Space and Mission Electronics business area received initial funding of $4.5 million to provide an advanced missile seeker, mission checkout console, and contractor logistics support for the EMD phase of the program.Sanders' missile seeker provides stabilized infrared imagery of the targeted warhead. The seeker allows terminal homing and aim point selection for the kinetic energy, hit-to-kill, interceptor.
