HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Feb. 12 -- Sagitta, a provider of automated processing solutions for the fiber optics industry, has signed an agreement with Corning Cable Systems Technology Inc. to exclusively license its automated manufacturing technology for fiber optic patch cord termination.
Sagitta said it will add its expertise in machine vision, submicron polishing and adaptive process control to create a line of optical connector assembly manufacturing cells to augment its Gemini Cx machine, which integrates polishing, cleaning and inspection in one manufacturing cell for simplex and multifiber optical connectors.
"We successfully introduced the first automated high volume polishing & inspection machine, the Gemini Cx, in 2002, and this relationship will enable us to follow through with additional cells as early as this year," said Amir Chitayat, Sagitta's CEO.
Sagitta provides manufacturing equipment solutions to the fiber optics and semiconductor industries. The company is based in Hauppauge, N.Y., with an engineering and manufacturing center in Kfar Saba, Israel.
