A licensing agreement has been signed between Varioptic SA, based in Lyon, France, and STMicroelectronics of Geneva, providing the latter with the use of Varioptic’s liquid lenses in its products. Under the terms of the agreement, STMicroelectronics will use the French company’s technology to add autofocus capabilities to a family of camera modules, targeting the growing demands of the camera phone market.
