Montreal-based SR Telecom Inc., a maker of wireless broadband products used by telephone companies and Internet service providers, announced the appointment of Serge Fortin, a 30-year telecom industry veteran, as its new president and CEO, effective July 10. Fortin most recently served in an executive role at London, England-based Flag Telecom and has held senior management positions at Teleglobe, Bell Actimedia, Tata Teleservices and Bell Canada. Fortin succeeds William Aziz, a specialist in restructuring organizations, who has served as the company's interim president and CEO since July 2005.
