SAN JOSE, Calif., June 14 -- The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) reports that worldwide sales of semiconductors for April 1999 totaled $11.21 billion, an increase of 7.3 percent over the same period in 1998. George Scalise, president of SIA, noted that these sales figures are in line with the SIA's Mid-Year Industry Forecast, released last week, which predicted that the overall growth of the semiconductor industry will exceed the 1999 sales for the next three years.
