SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 31 -- inViso, a developer of microdisplay modules and personal electronics, announced it will cease operations, citing the ecomomic slowdown and a poor fund-raising environment. inViso has developed a digital crystal on silicon display and optical module designed for near-to-eye personal electronics applications. The SVGA resolution module was used in the company's eCase, a monocular, bring-to-the-eye PDA-like device, and its eShades, a binocular head-mounted display system. inViso President Joy Weissbrief said the company had been close to making an acquisition deal....Read full articleRelated content from Photonics MediaArticlesWaveguide Designs Bring Extended Reality into SightHere is something David Goldman, vice president of marketing for Lumus, never expected to come into the field of view of waveguides: Wine growers using augmented reality (AR) glasses to teach...Photonics Spectra January 2024 IssueFluorescent Protein Combines Record Brightness with Fast FoldingThe University of Amsterdam research team that introduced the red fluorescent protein known as mScarlet in 2016 has introduced an improved variant of the marker.
