United Lens Company (ULC) is undergoing a two-year, $15 million renovation project to modernize its 200,000-sq-ft production facility, which will include a new system utility building. Improvements to the building are underway with new HVAC, compressed air, and deionized water systems being installed, as well as significant updates to the electrical infrastructure and a new roof for the primary production building. United Lens Company officials break ground on major renovations. Max Lannon, director of engineering, said many changes have taken place over the company’s 100- year history, with changes and additions to its building that were costly. A major overhaul was long overdue. “We found ourselves spending an enormous amount of time and money just trying to keep the facility patched and operational,” he said. ULC's day-to-day operations will not be affected by the renovations.
