Intevac Photonics Inc. has received a $40 million contract for the multiyear production of digital night vision cameras for the U.S. military. Intevac's Digital Night Vision Goggle viewing and recording system incorporates a sensor that enables the output of extremely low-light-level-sensitivity video, eliminating the need for analog image intensification (I²) tubes. Intevac's digital night-vision sensors, based on its Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor (EBAPS) technology, provide state-of-the-art capability to some of the most advanced avionic fighting platforms in the U.S. Department of Defense inventory. Intevac is a developer of advanced high-sensitivity digital sensors, cameras, and systems that primarily serve the defense industry.
