US Army Awards Northrop Grumman $17.6M to Upgrade Rangefinders

Northrop Grumman Corp. has received a $17.6 million award from the U.S. Army to upgrade the Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder 2H (LLDR 2H), which will be retrofitted with high-accuracy sensors. The modernization of the LLDR 2H man-portable targeting system features Northrop Grumman’s thermal diode pumping technology for designation, which consumes less power than older lasers while yielding greater output energy and lower beam divergence.
