SAN DIEGO, Dec. 13 -- TeraGlobal Communications Corp. said it has been selected by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to develop networking software that allows multiple users to view real-time video transmissions simultaneously at varying, independent transmission speeds. NRL is funding this development that is based on TeraGlobal's software-only symmetrical Wavelet video CODEC. This technology will enable multiple users with varying broadband connections to have different video resolution based on their transmission rate. At present, in situations where video is desired as a key element of a live, real-time communication process, the lowest bandwidth user determines the video quality. With this new software configuration, each user will be able to use the full capability of their broadband connection.
