StockerYale Buys Spectrode

SALEM, N.H., Oct. 19, 2007 -- StockerYale Inc., a Salem, N.H., maker of structured light lasers, LED modules and specialty optical fibers for OEMs, announced Thursday it has acquired Spectrode LLC, a developer of pulsed thulium-doped fiber laser technology. Spectrode, of Wilmington, Mass., is a spinoff of Azna LLC, a provider of chirp-managed directly modulated lasers founded in 2002 by optics and laser expert Parviz Tayebati, PhD, and later sold to Finisar in 2007.
