StockerYale Inc., a Salem, N.H., maker of structured-light lasers, LED modules, specialty optical fibers for industrial OEMs and other photonics-based products, announced today it has appointed Robert J. Drummond to its board of directors. Drummond was cofounder of Epsilon Data Management Inc., which helped pioneer the field of database marketing. The company, built from a four-person start-up to a high-tech growth company with a staff of 800, was acquired by American Express in 1990. Drummond was CEO of Epsilon for six years, until 1998, and has since worked with a number of early-stage high-tech companies to raise venture capital and develop and implementing growth strategies. He is on the boards of three private technology companies and of Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Mass., and is a trustee for Drexel University in Philadelphia, from which he has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He also has an MBA from Harvard. His appointment increases StockerYale's board from seven to eight directors.
