RVSI Claims Breakthrough in Chip Inspection

CANTON, Mass., May 26 -- Robotic Vision Systems Inc. (RVSI) claims to have solved a long-standing problem facing chip manufacturers and assemblers. RSVI announced the development of detection technology capable of finding contaminants that have previously gone unseen in early electrical tests. Shoulder burrs and slivers are tiny impurities attached to the leads that come from integrated circuit packages. Found high on the leads next to the package body, metal burrs have previously gone undetected in electrical tests and have caused chips to short circuit during board assembly....Read full article
