Two years after Qioptiq Group acquired Germany-based Linos AG, the company announced that it has consolidated its two North American optical systems operations by merging Qioptiq Imaging Solutions of Fairport, N.Y., with Milford, Mass.-based Linos Photonics Inc. to form Qioptiq Linos Inc. The new combined company will have its headquarters in Fairport, with supporting satellite offices in New England, Chicago, and Florida. William Gilman will continue his role from Qioptiq Imaging Solutions as president & CEO of Qioptiq Linos, while former president of Linos Photonics, Gary Bishop, assumes the role of senior vice president, sales & marketing. The logistical transfer of operations is expected for the second quarter of 2009. Qioptiq said the newly combined photonic and optical systems provider will serve the growing needs of the optics and photonics industry with a wider range of standard products (more than 5500 optical, mechanical and electro-optical products from both Linos and Qioptiq brands such as Spindler & Hoyer, Rodenstock, Gsänger, Optem, OptiGrid, Fetura and A-Zoom), a deeper technology pool and a broader range of domestic technical, engineering and support services. The company will provide optical products for a broad range of applications in the aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, forensics, laser systems, materials processing, machine vision, medical, microscopy, pharmaceutical, scientific research, and telecommunications markets. Qioptiq announced plans to acquire Göttingen-based Linos AG in the summer of 2006, with the acquisition completed by the end of that year. (See: Qioptic Group to Acquire Linos AG).
