Photonics Spectra, the leading publication dedicated to the photonics industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Schwertz to its Editorial Advisory Board. Schwertz's appointment, effective immediately, increases the number of Photonics Spectra Editorial Advisory Board members to 15 optics and photonics luminaries. Schwertz is senior manager of optical assemblies and technology at Edmund Optics in Tucson, Arizona, where she is responsible for engineering partnership development and communication of advanced assemblies capabilities. Courtesy of Edmund Optics A 2025 SPIE Fellow and senior member of SPIE and Optica, Schwertz served on the SPIE board of directors from 2020 to 2022, and is the recipient of the 2024 SPIE President’s Award, which recognizes unique and meritorious service of outstanding benefit to the society. Schwertz serves as co-chair of the Optics Valley (Arizona) industry cluster as well as on the board of directors for the Arizona Technology Council. She is a co-author of the SPIE Field Guide to Optomechanical Design and Analysis and the Photonics Rules of Thumb, 3rd ed.
