Spectral technology company Ocean Insight will relaunch its Ocean Optics brand, which the company used from its founding in 1989 until retiring the brand in 2019. The move comes as part of a company rebranding, whereby the global company, operating under the master brand of Ocean Insight, will provide its optical sensing solutions through three brands. The brands are Ocean Optics, which will develop and market compact spectrometers; Ocean Applied, which designs and builds industrial-grade photonics systems for material inspection, chemical identification, and quality assurance; and International Light, which supplies lighting assemblies, light measurement solutions, and calibration services. Ocean Insight will reintroduce the Ocean Optics brand for its compact spectrometers. The company retired the brand in 2019 and has made several acquisitions — including technology from Rigaku Analytical Devices that uses light to assess scrap aluminum quickly and efficiently for recycling purposes — since that year.
