San Francisco-based piece-picking solutions provider OSARO has integrated Cognex DataMan image-based barcode readers into its robotic bagging system. The integration is part of a collaboration between the companies, as OSARO adds Cognex to its partner alliance. According to the partners, a deployment — also featuring a FANUC M-10 series robotic arm and FRAMOS cameras — has already demonstrated the utility of the combination of technologies. OSARO said that its technical team worked with an e-fulfillment warehouse implementation services provider to introduce a robotic system that successfully picked, scanned, bag, and labeled up to 410 eyeglasses per hour. OSARO said that the Cognex DataMan readers achieved 99% accuracy and read rates, while increasing throughput by 80% in the deployment, which took place at Calif.-based Zenni Optical.
