Thanks to advances in flat panel display technologies, prices are falling and performance is rising. As a result, flat displays are in the thick of things.

To paraphrase the Duchess of Windsor, displays can never be too thin or too rich. Flat panel displays take up less room and consume less power than their cathode-ray-tube kin. However, in the past, flat panel displays were too expensive and their image quality too poor for many applications.
