FREMONT, Calif., Dec. 4 -- NeoPhotonics Corp., a developer of nanomaterials technology and product applications, announced it has completed preparations to spin off its medical component business into a separate corporation. The new company, NanoGram Devices Corp., is creating power sources for medical devices and other medical equipment based on its laser-based nanomaterial synthesis technology. This technology was originally developed by NeoPhotonics Corp. and affiliate NanoGram Corp. in partnership with a leading medical device company. NanoGram Devices will initially focus on markets for implantable medical devices, specifically defibrillators, congestive heat failure devices and pacemakers.
