Medical device industry veteran William M. Moore will serve as interim president and CEO of laser-based medical systems maker Iridex. The appointment, announced this week, takes effect immediately. Moore replaces Dominik Beck, who served in the role for less than a year and whose employment with the company ended Aug. 24. In October 2011, Beck, who had spent much of his career leading companies that focused on eye care and ophthalmic devices, succeeded Theodore A. Boutacoff. Boutacoff, an Iridex co-founder who was CEO from 1989 to 2005 and who returned to the role in 2007, moved into the chief technology officer position. Moore will continue to serve as chairman of the board, Iridex said; he has served as a company director since September 2007. Moore co-founded the public company Natus Medical Inc., a provider of health care screening products, in 1990 and served as CEO until 1993. He still serves on the company's board. He also served as a consultant to BlueLine Partners LLC, a private equity firm and investor in Iridex, from February 2004 until June 2008, and on the board of Urologix Inc., a public medical device company. Iridex also announced the appointment of CFO James Mackaness as chief operating officer, effective immediately. For more information, visit: www.iridex.com
