MURRAY HILL, NJ, June 9 -- Lucent Technologies has signed agreements valued at more than $100 million with Metromedia Fiber Network, Inc. for deployment of TrueWave RS Fibre throughout the US and Europe. Under the terms of the contract Lucent will provide Metromedia with the AccuRibbon DuctSaver+ Cable, a high-performance cable solution that doubles the capacity of the fiber packaged in Lucent's ribbon cable. The new design will allow Metromedia to place up to 864 TrueWave fibers in a one-inch cable metallic sheath, which will reduce the network's installed cost per fiber mile.
