Liquid Metal Enables Switchable Mirrors

FUKUOKA, Japan, June 16, 2021 — Researchers have demonstrated the ability to switch the surface of liquid metal between reflective and scattering states. The technology could one day be used to create electrically controllable mirrors or illumination devices. Mirrors and other reflective optical components are typically created through the use of optical coatings or polishing processes.
