Kyocera Corp. Acquires GaN Laser Technology Company SLD Laser

KYOTO, Japan, Nov. 12, 2020 — Kyocera announced it will acquire Goleda, Calif.-based SLD Laser, a developer of visible laser sources for display, automotive, and specialty applications. SLD (Soraa Laser Diode), commercializes gallium nitride (GaN)-based laser light sources and produces GaN-based diode products. The company was established in 2013. The acquired company, which employs 169, will operate as a Kyocera group company following approval from regulatory authorities.
