HOOFDDORP, Netherlands, Sept. 5 - KPNQwest has agreed to provide Fibernet, a telecommunications provider based in the UK, with up to 6800 km of fiber along with co-location facilities on KPNQwest's high speed fiber optic EuroRings network. The contract, which is worth more than 100 million EURO not including additional network-related charges, will aid Fibernet's planned network roll-out into France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy over the next year. KPNQwest holds significant network capacity in Fibernet's target markets with a 20,000 km network and 10 city MegaPoPs in France, 14 in Germany, 3 in Switzerland and 2 in Italy, all redundantly connected to the UK. KPNQwest is a facilities-based pan-European provider of data-centric services based on Internet protocol.
