Integrated Photonics Center to Spur US Competitiveness

ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 27, 2015 — From creating jobs locally to boosting America's technological competitiveness abroad, a national photonics institute to be established here already aspires to some lofty goals. Vice President Joe Biden visited "the optics capital of the world" Monday to announce that Rochester had been chosen to host the institute, which will be supported by more than $610 million in federal, state and private funds.
