IPG Photonics has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Clean-Lasersysteme GmbH (cleanLASER), a developer of laser cleaning systems. The transaction is expected to close later this year. Based in Herzogenrath, Germany, cleanLASER serves a broad range of customers across the automotive, industrial, aerospace, medical, and food markets, offering process-safe laser technology for the cleaning and processing of industrial surfaces. The company, founded in 1997, generates approximately $30 million in annual revenue. “As a supplier to cleanLASER for nearly 25 years, we know this company well and believe our combined cleaning application know-how, complementary market exposure, and product and technology synergies will create value for customers,” said IPG CEO Mark Gitin. The acquisition follows IPG’s divestment of its Russian subsidiary, IRE-Polus, which the company finalized last month.
