Veeco Instruments Inc. announced today it has received two orders for its GEN200 molecular beam epitaxy system from IPG Photonics Corp. of Oxford, Mass., to expand its production of high-quality gallium arsenide-based lasers. IPG bought its first Veeco GEN200 last year. The system provides 4X4" epiwafer growth of devices such as pump lasers, vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers and heterojunction bipolar transistors. IPG makes fiber lasers and amplifiers for applications in the materials processing, communications, medical, scientific and research markets. Veeco, based in Woodbury, N.Y., is a provider of metrology products used to measure at the nanoscale and process equipment tools to help create nanoscale devices.
