MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 25 -- HEI Inc., designer and manufacturer of ultraminiature microelectronic devices, has obtained a production order to align fiber optic devices for a major multinational customer. The order is to extend over a period of several quarters and is worth more than $3 million. Fiber alignment is a crucial step in the production of fiber optic assemblies used in applications such as high-speed Internet routing and data communications said HEI. This is the first time HEI has received a production order to perform alignment on fiber optic devices. We expect the tremendous growth in the multi-billion dollar fiber optics market to continue well into the future and this is the kind of market in which we are seeking new opportunities, said Anthony Fant, the company's chairman and CEO.
