PARIS, July 18 -- France Telecom has signed a letter of intent with Nortel Networks, a worldwide supplier of Internet solutions, to use Nortel Network's metropolitan Optical Internet solution to test dense wavelength division multiplexing. The agreement could eventually enable France Telecom to offer new services to large customers throughout Europe, said France Telecom. The companies will deploy the OPTera Metro 5200 Multi-service Platform for a two-month trial period. France Telecom will carry out live tests in a corporate customer environment in September of this year, the company said.
