DustPhotonics, a silicon photonics technology developer for data center and AI applications, has completed an oversubscribed $24 million series B follow-on funding round. The company said that the funding will be used to scale production of current products — namely its Carmel-4 and Carmel-8 products, which are used for 400Gb/s and 800Gb/s applications — and accelerate development of future innovations. Dust Photonics debuted its Carmel-8 product at 2023's European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC). As the company aims to advance its merchant 800 Gb/s silicon photonics chip, it also plans to use funds from the current B round to accelerate development of its next generations of products which will enable 1.6Tb/s, according to the company. The round was funded by a combination of new and existing investors including Sienna Venture Capital, Greenfield Partners, Atreides Management, and Exor Ventures.
