The IEEE-Communications Society, the IEEE-Lasers & Electro-Optics Society and the Optical Society of America have announced the upcoming call-for-papers deadline for the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC). Papers originally accepted for NFOEC 2004 will now be presented at the combined OFC/NFOEC 2005, to be held March 6-11 in Anaheim, Calif. Authors interested in proposing new papers for consideration should follow the OFC submission guidelines and submit to the appropriate category by Sept. 14 at noon. (QDC), of Hayward, Calif., and Ventana Medical Systems Inc., of Tucson, Ariz., have announced licensing and supply agreements relating to QDC's Qdot nanocrystal technology for in vitro diagnostic applications in anatomic pathology and cytology. Ventana will also incorporate QDC technology in its research and pharmaceutical discovery systems. QDC will supply Qdot nanocrystals to Ventana for use in assays for cancer diagnosis and disease management. Financial terms were not disclosed.
