Pulsed UV laser supplier Lambda Physik AG has begun shipping its 193 nm and 157 nm lithography lasers. In the 157 nm segment, the first lithography laser with a pulse repetition rate of 4 kHz has been shipped to a stepper/scanner manufacturer. The lasers are used in optical microlithography, a process used to produce microchips. The company also recently shipped its newest generation of 193 nm lasers. These lithography lasers are equipped with the SOUL system (single oscillator, ultraline-narrowed) and operate at a power of 20 W.
