Jeffrey L. Cannon has been named senior vice president of Novalux Inc., a solid-state laser company. Cannon will lead the business development of Novalux's NECSEL technology products for commercial test, measurement and inspection markets. Cannon was previously vice president and general manager of the JDS Uniphase Commercial Laser Div. . . . Semiconductor foundry UMC announced that Robert Tsao will no longer serve as CEO, effective April 1. Vice Chairman John Hsuan will be the new CEO, and Tsao will continue to serve as chairman for the company.
