PARSIPPANY, N.J., July 26 -- DRS Technologies Inc., supplier of defense electronic systems to international governments and commercial markets, has received a $1.3 million contract from a division of General Motors Corp. The contract calls for DRS Technologies' Flight Safety and Communications unit in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada to produce laser warning display systems and laser range finder remote displays for Canadian Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) III armored personnel carriers. The laser warning system tells the occupants of the LAV when enemy targeting lasers have spotted the vehicle, while the laser range finder remote display helps guide the LAV's 25-mm gun. The systems, designed by General Motors, will ship in November of this year, DRS Technologies said.
