Brimrose Awarded 2 Army SBIR Awards

SPARKS, Md., June 13, 2013 — Brimrose Corp. has received two US Army contracts to develop chemical detection sensors based on imaging systems and quantum dots, the global photonics and high-technology company announced this week at CLEO 2013 in San Diego. The first of the Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awards from the US Army’s Chemical and Biological Defense unit is for an acousto-optic tunable filter-based (AOTF) polarimetric imaging system for standoff chemical detection. Brimrose aims to develop and design an AOTF system using a long-wavelength IR (LWIR) focal plane array as the...Read full article

    colloidal quantum dots
Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are nanometer-sized semiconductor particles that are dispersed in a colloidal solution. These quantum dots have unique optical and electronic properties due to their size, which is typically in the range of 2 to 10 nanometers. The key characteristics and components of colloidal quantum dots include: Quantum confinement: The small size of the quantum dots leads to quantum confinement effects, where the motion of electrons and holes is restricted in all three...
