AHRENSBURG, Germany, March 14 -- Basler Vision Technologies-Machine Vision Components (Basler-MVC) has broken into the intelligent camera market with a design win from a large OEM that is building systems to inspect small, discrete parts. Basler-MVC will custom configure line-scan cameras with image processing software to increase the speed of inspection and to decrease the cost of the overall system. The contract is worth more than $750,000. "We are extremely excited about this opportunity, which solidifies Basler-MVC as not only a leading camera maker, but also as an innovator in intelligent line-scan cameras," said Ralf Pulz, business unit manager at Basler-MVC. The Basler-MVC solution will offer the OEM such benefits as eliminating the requirement for host computer and frame grabber image processing since all image analysis will occur in the camera. The Basler-MVC intelligent camera captures images, eliminates unnecessary data, analyzes user-defined appropriate data and makes an accept or reject decision. The software functions are easily programmed with Basler-MVC's intelligent camera configuration tool, a Windows-based software tool developed in-house.
