3S Displays Stable 1064nm Laser at High Power

NOZAY, France, Feb. 8, 2010 – French manufacturer of optical and optoelectronic components for telecommunication networks, 3S Photonics, demonstrated reliable pulsed-operation of its 1064nm wavelength-stabilized diode lasers at high power during a technical presentation at the SPIE Photonics West exhibition held in San Francisco. Most pulsed fiber lasers are built on a Master Oscillator – Power Amplifier (MOPA) architecture. This configuration has the advantage, among others, of exploiting direct modulation of the diode laser seed (the MO) to reach high repetition rates and high peak-power pulsed operation. To...Read full article

    fiber bragg grating
A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is a type of optical filter that is inscribed or "written" into the core of an optical fiber. It consists of a periodic modulation of the refractive index along the length of the fiber. This modulation forms a grating structure that reflects a specific wavelength of light while transmitting others. fiber Bragg grating suppliers → Key features of FBGs include: Periodic modulation: The refractive index of the optical fiber's core is periodically...
    optoelectronics
Optoelectronics is a branch of electronics that focuses on the study and application of devices and systems that use light and its interactions with different materials. The term "optoelectronics" is a combination of "optics" and "electronics," reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of this field. Optoelectronic devices convert electrical signals into optical signals or vice versa, making them crucial in various technologies. Some key components and applications of optoelectronics include: ...
    quantum well
A quantum well is a structure in quantum mechanics that confines particles, such as electrons or holes, in one spatial dimension. This confinement leads to quantized energy levels, creating a potential well in which the particles are restricted to move. In semiconductor physics and device engineering, quantum wells are commonly used to create electronic or optical devices. These structures are typically thin layers (often on the order of nanometers) sandwiched between layers of a different...
