Raytheon Buys Photon Research

WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 6 -- Raytheon Co. announced today it has acquired Photon Research Associates Inc. (PRA), based in San Diego, for an undisclosed amount.

PRA makes physics-based modeling, simulation and analysis products and services for government and commercial markets, focusing on remote sensing, missile defense, surveillance/reconnaissance, intelligence data analysis and stealth system design. The company, which has five US divisions, was founded in 1976 by CEO James Myer.

Raytheon said the acquisition will strengthen its capabilities in its missile defense, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, precision strike and homeland security businesses. PRA will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon, reporting to Raytheon's Space and Airborne Systems.
