HAWTHORNE, Calif., Nov. 8 -- RapiTec Inc., OSI Systems Inc.'s defense electronics subsidiary, has been awarded three subcontracts totaling $4 million to design, build and provide contractor logistic support for training equipment for the US Army and an undisclosed international customer. Shipments are scheduled to last through October 2003.
The subcontracts are from three prime contractors. Inter-Coastal Electronics of Mesa, Ariz., under its prime contract with the US Army, has increased its order to RapiTec by $2.6 million for multiple integrated laser engagement system compatible eye-safe laser training components for the AH-64D Apache longbow tactical engagement simulation system .
The second award is from Scientific Research Corp. of Atlanta, Ga., for $1.2 million for the design and production of a land mine effects simulator for use at the US Army's National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif.
The third award is from Universal Systems and Technology in Vienna, Va., for $250,000, for depot maintenance and repair of the US Marine Corps' MILES 2000 training equipment.
