Quantum Leap Packaging Inc., which supplies electronic component packaging using its Quantech liquid crystal compound, has purchased the connector-in-package product line from Silicon Bandwidth Inc. of San Jose, Calif. The acquired technology expands the Wilmington, Mass., company’s portfolio to include applications using liquid crystal on silicon. It combines semiconductor packaging with built-in connector systems to provide advantages over chip-on-flex and -on-board systems.

Quantum Leap will assume responsibility for customer support and manufacturing, while obtaining all intellectual property rights. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
