Germany-based AMS Technologies and Laser Operations LLC of Sylmar, Calif., have expanded their distribution agreement for the high-brightness product line of QPC Lasers to include the UK/Ireland, France and Spain. The investor group Laser Operations bought QPC Lasers, a manufacturer of Brightlase and Brightlock lasers for the medical, industrial and defense markets, at an asset sale last month (See New Life for QPC Lasers). QPC had been struggling to avoid bankruptcy after its debt load became too heavy once the economy slumped and credit dried up. "AMS Technologies has successfully distributed QPC Lasers for several years, even through uncertainties. AMS Technologies has developed business in a wide range of applications, becoming one of QPC's most important partners. This agreement builds upon that foundation and is an important development for both companies," stated Thomas Moritz, European sales manager for AMS Technologies' OptoTech Div. "AMS Technologies has been very instrumental in developing a strong presence in Germany and neighboring countries for the QPC high-brightness diode laser products over the years. As we enter a new stage of growth as part of Laser Operations LLC, we are pleased to recognize AMS Technologies' contribution to our growing leadership in European medical and industrial markets as well as unwavering support during our recent restructuring efforts," said Laurent Vaissie, vice president of sales and marketing of Laser Operations.
