ProPhotonix to Distribute Opnext Laser Diodes
SALEM, N.H., April 14, 2011 — LED systems and laser modules manufacturer ProPhotonix Ltd. has announced that it will distribute two new high-power laser diodes from Opnext, an optical technology provider.
Opnext’s HL40023MG is a high-power, 404-nm, 500-mW violet laser diode that is suitable for biomedical illumination and optical lithography applications. The company says it offers manufacturers a more cost-effective option to solid-state laser diodes.
The HL45023TG, the first in a family of blue laser diodes in development, was designed specifically to meet the demands of mobile pico projector applications. In addition, it is suitable for a variety of fluorescence and sensing applications. It provides 60 mW of optical output power at 445 nm, all while consuming less power than existing, commercially available blue lasers.
