PITTSFIELD, Mass., March 21, 2016 — Abstracts are due March 31 for consideration for Photonics for Ophthalmology, a digital conference.

Hosted by Photonics Media on June 9, this digital conference will focus on the use of light-based imaging and surgical techniques for diagnosing and treating eye conditions. The event will feature 20-minute online presentations by approximately seven speakers followed by brief question-and-answer sessions. Photonics Media invites presentations from researchers, clinicians and engineers working with optical and photonic technologies for ophthalmological applications at the graduate, doctoral and professional levels.

Presentations on theoretical topics or presenting new data are welcome. Topics of interest include adaptive optics, intraocular lenses, laser eye surgery, optical coherence tomography, photocoagulation, photodynamic therapy, retinal prosthetics and spectroscopy.

Abstracts may be submitted via email to [email protected], online at photonics.com/bioconference, or by mail to: Bioconference, Photonics Media, P.O. Box 4949, Pittsfield, Mass., 01202, U.S.A.

photonics
The technology of generating and harnessing light and other forms of radiant energy whose quantum unit is the photon. The science includes light emission, transmission, deflection, amplification and detection by optical components and instruments, lasers and other light sources, fiber optics, electro-optical instrumentation, related hardware and electronics, and sophisticated systems. The range of applications of photonics extends from energy generation to detection to communications and...
ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the eyes and visual system. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye disorders and diseases. They are trained to provide comprehensive eye care, including medical, surgical, and optical interventions. Key areas within ophthalmology include: General eye care: Ophthalmologists perform routine eye examinations to assess visual acuity,...
