Yuba College in Marysville, Calif., has scheduled an open house for recruiters and its first class of laser optics technology students. The event, which will be held Saturday, April 15, will introduce potential employers and the graduates of the one-year program. The students have learned basic optics and machining techniques, including the use of polishing spindles, vertical surface grinders, curve generators and lens edging machines. The laser optics program was coordinated by the Laser and Electro-Optics Manufacturers' Association (LEOMA) and underwritten by Spectra-Physics and Coherent.
